Smallhold flocks (500 birds or fewer) held 39.1% of the national chicken flock at 01 Jul 2026.

At 01 Jan 2010 the same smallhold share was 49.3%.

The national flock itself grew +43.7% between 01 Jan 2010 and 01 Jul 2026. The backyard birds did not leave; the commercial flock grew faster.

PSA’s inventory table carries a game fowl line. This site excludes gamefowl entirely, so it is not counted here or anywhere on the site.

Eggs are co-equal with meat here, not a by-product. The two are measured in different units and cannot share an axis, so each gets its own chart.

06 · Native chicken

Native chicken is a different market, not a better price

Native birds command a large premium per kilo at farmgate. That is a different product and a different buyer, not free money for a broiler grower.

That premium is the market paying for a different bird a different buyer wants, not a higher return on the same grow-out.

07 · Feed inputs

Fifteen feed inputs are published weekly. The sack price is not.

BAI publishes wholesale prices for fifteen raw ingredients and for day-old chicks. The finished sack price a keeper actually pays is published by nobody.

What this page could not compute

Each item names the figure that is missing and who would have to publish it. Printing what is not known is the point of the archive.

  • The finished feed sack price a keeper actually buys. BAI publishes the raw ingredients and no one publishes the sack.
  • Regional spread on input prices — feed, day-old chicks, vaccines. Published nationally only; the freight-driven regional difference is invisible.
  • A published dressing percentage. No Philippine institution publishes one, so farmgate liveweight and retail dressed cannot be put on one axis.
  • Backyard grow-out performance against controlled figures. Published performance is commercial; the backyard gap is real and unmeasured.
  • Vaccine availability and price by region. Not published anywhere this site can cite.
